Poster Competition

Three Joint Biostatistics Symposium Poster Awards will be given to honor student and post-doctoral participants presenting their work during the Lunch and Poster Session at the Symposium. Each Poster Award winner will receive a certificate and a gift card.

Eligibility

  • Who Can Apply:
    All researchers—including faculty, professionals, students, and trainees—are encouraged to submit and present a poster at the Symposium.

  • Poster Competition Eligibility:
    The competition is restricted to students and postdoctoral researchers. To be eligible, a participant must be a student or postdoctoral researcher who is the first author of the poster.

  • Requirements:

    • Register for the Symposium by March 12, 2025.
    • Submit an abstract for the poster session by March 12, 2025, and indicate your interest in participating in the Poster Competition.
    • An email will be sent approximately one week before the meeting requesting an electronic version of your poster, allowing judges to review the visual presentation and research in advance.
    • Present your poster in person on Monday, April 7, 2025, between noon and 1:00 PM at the Symposium.
    • As per our guidelines, each participant can present only one abstract and be considered for the poster award.

Submission Guidelines

  • Abstract Submission Deadline:
    All abstracts must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. ET on March 12, 2025.

    All complete poster slides must be submitted by 12:00 p.m. ET on March 31, 2025

  • Submission Portal:
    Submit your abstract through the online form.

    Submit your complete poster slides through the website.

  • Competition Participation:
    Indicate your interest in the Poster Competition by selecting “YES” in the relevant section of the submission form.

  • Registration Requirement:
    Participants are required to register for the Symposium prior to submission. Register here.

Poster Preparation Tips

Design and Layout

  • Title and Headings:
    Use clear and concise titles with section headings to guide viewers.

  • Font Size:
    Ensure all text is legible from a distance of at least 3 feet.

  • Visuals:
    Incorporate high-quality graphics, charts, and images to complement your text.

  • White Space:
    Maintain a balanced layout with adequate white space to enhance readability.

Content Organization

  • Introduction:
    Provide background and clearly state your research question or hypothesis.

  • Methods:
    Summarize your methodology concisely.

  • Results:
    Highlight key findings using visual aids (charts, graphs, tables).

  • Conclusion:
    Discuss implications, potential applications, and future directions.
